HOLLYWOOD– The upcoming live-action movie Moolan is set to be released at the end of March, despite growing fears of the coronavirus outbreak.
The remake of the 1998 film will pay homage to the eponymous lead character played by talented bovine actress Yifei Moo, with one of the original characters being omitted due to him trying to make bulls out of cows.
Although these concerns were met with mixed reactions, the new adaption will carry on with a different storyline.
Another difference between the 1998 and 2020 versions is the absence of musical numbers, other than pop singer Christina Waguilera’s remake of the classic hit Udder, Teat, Milk.
Even though the film is based in China, there are growing concerns of whether Moolan will be released in the country because of the coronavirus outbreak, which has already infected thousands of animals.
Disney CEO Bobcat Iger told CNBC News that the debut of Moolan in China is still uncertain, but holds out hope that eventually the film will be released.
The film tells the story of Moolan, a legendary cow fighter from ancient China who disguises herself as a bull to take her elderly father’s place in the bovine army to defend her country from buffalo invaders.
