RIDGECREST, CALIFORNIA– Animals both young and old know who famous musicians Alvin And The Chipmunks are, thanks to all of their movies and albums that have been released within the last decade. But what most animals probably don’t know is that the famous trio actually started out as quartet with their even lesser known brother Quincy.
Quincy Chipmunk, along with his three brothers Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, started the music group Quincy And The Chipmunk Quartet when they were less than a year old. Right before they made it big though, the three famous brothers took a vote and unanimously decided to boot Quincy from the band.
Rumors that Quincy was born out of wedlock started swirling around and The Chipmunks’ manager believed that all the negative publicity would hurt their hopes for success.
Quincy, who now works as a postal worker and lives in a modest burrow out in the desert, claims that he was the leader of the group and that his brother Alvin felt threatened that he would be the one kicked out once they became famous.
“Alvin created this fabrication that our mom had an affair with our local postal worker,” Quincy said as he puffed his cheeks. “Alvin knew that I was the one with all the talent and that eventually he would get left behind, so he convinced my other brothers that I was only their half brother and that if news of this got out they’d end up with menial, hard labor jobs.”
Even though the famous trio of chipmunks reportedly earns over half a billion dollars a year while Quincy earns less than $30,000, he says that he doesn’t hold a grudge against his famous siblings and that he still wishes them the best.
“I still love my brothers,” Quincy said as he shared photos of the chipmunks when they were younger. “I’m happy for their success and don’t regret a thing. Every time one of their movies comes on TV as I’m flicking through the channels I stop and smile and think about how all of their mail ends up getting delivered somewhere else.”
