AUSTRALIA– A sheepdog from Victoria is being heralded as a hero for saving the lives of hundreds of animals that were stuck inside an amusement park with no idea on how to escape.
Pat Hill is the Wonder Dog shepherd mix who risked his own life by running into the heart of the devastating wildfires to lead countless animals out of harm’s way.
Through massive smoke and burning trees, Pat used his instinctual canine skills and night vision to herd every single frightened animal into a large college gymnasium where paramedics were waiting to help those in need.
Hero Pat told a local Fox News affiliate program that he was only doing what he felt was the right thing to do and he doesn’t believe he deserves special attention.
“I was jogging that day and got really thirsty,” Pat explained to reporters. “I was looking for a clean toilet bowl to drink out of when I ventured off to a distant location and I noticed a lot of smoke coming out from an amusement park down the road.”
The disastrous fire in Australia could have possibly taken the lives of hundreds of animals if it weren’t for the heroic, quick-thinking abilities of the loyal Pat.
“We were so lucky Pat came along and saved us,” said Perry Hogg, a lucky pig who survived the ordeal. “I was definitely sweating like a pig thinking I might not make it out of the fire alive.”
