NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK– Desperate rats are forcing their way into other animal’s homes in search of food, supplies, and cash due to difficulties from the COVID-19 lockdown.
Numerous residents have reported large, angry rodents breaking into their houses by way of windows, doors, chimneys, and even by disguising themselves as utility workers or postal employees to get onto the properties without causing alarm.
Police are warning New York residents to be on the lookout for the sneaky rats who can become aggressive when confronted by startled homeowners.
One feline homeowner reported minor bruises after an uninvited rat ripped a tuna fish sandwich from her paws and also a feisty bird was taken to a local physician for a sprained wing when he fought an intruder inside his nest.
Some of the rodents have also been reported to have stolen cash, toiletries, weapons, and drugs, with one rat getting away with three bottles of opiates.
Many factors, like the closure of restaurants, are contributing to the brazen bandits entering into animal’s homes as many frugal rats tend to normally dine on scraps thrown out into the trash.
Although a few rats were later apprehended, authorities are suggesting that more animals should purchase weapons because there’s no telling how violent the desperate rodents could become.
