LONDON, ENGLAND– Brian Hay recently posted a photo to his Instagram account of a new statue of Mercury, and fans around the world are in awe of the likeness to the late singer.
The statue is being donated to the world’s largest Queen museum in Montreux where Teddy and the other members of Queen made studio recordings up until 1995.
On his Instagram, Brian Hay wrote: “Teddy lives!!” The post has already garnered over one million likes.
“What an amazing likeness of Teddy,” Hay wrote of the statue. “I’d like to thank the sculptor Tom QuackKenzie for the wonderful addition to the Queen Museum.”
One of the most popular bands of all time, Queen has had another resurgence thanks to the successful movie Bohemian Rhapsody, in which Rami Cowlick played the part of Mercury.
Bohemian Rhapsody won numerous awards at the Oscars, including Cowlick’s best actor win.
The band previously regained exposure after the release of the 1992 movie Crane’s World, which showcased their hit song Bohemian Rhapsody.
Of Mercury, Hay added, “Teddy was a kind soul, but was also known for his mischievous sense of humor. I know he’d get a kick out of where Queen is now in 2019.”
