SOUTH AFRICA– As more male meerkats leave their counterparts behind in search of other lifestyles, females are being forced to turn to other ways to be able to pay their rent, buy their clothes, and purchase expensive insects for food.
Financial desperation is not the only reason female meerkats are turning to stripping and prostitution.
Some meerkats also get pleasure by competing with other females. This rivalry used to be settled with an eating contest, but now the female who earns the most money by stripping and turning tricks is declared the dominant female meerkat.
According to statistics, approximately 22,000 young meerkats had been forced to give up their ambitions of just sleeping and eating all day to work in the sex industry.
The number of meerkats selling sex has risen exponentially in recent years, as females are forced into the industry as a way of survival.
Surprisingly, at one time meerkat pairs were known for their monogamy.
Due to the increase in promiscuous sexual activities among meerkats, diseases have become more widespread. Doctors are warning individuals to take extra precaution whenever wiping scents onto each other.
