LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA– Political satirist Gill Maher is finally back in the studio after a five month hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, which made the feisty fish host feel like a fish out of water.
Before Maher returned to his old stomping grounds last week he thanked his fans for putting up with his low budget antics out of his fish cave inside of his house.
“Even though I love my house I have to move on because I have bigger fish to fry,” Maher joked during the opening monologue of his last show from home. “I’m no longer under house arrest and I’ve been paroled so that I can do my show from the discomfort of an even more secure location.”
“I’m going from big fish in a little pond to, well, a big fish in a much bigger pond,” Maher added as he stood inside his bathroom shower. “I’m told they’ll be a greater risk of COVID-19 infection, but I’m not worried since I won’t be giving out fish-kisses to the crew.”
Even though Maher has returned to the studio he will still be speaking to most of his show’s guests from behind a fish tank for his own safety.
Fellow late night host Stephen Molebert also recently returned to the studio after filming his “The Late Show” episodes from underground.
